THINK
I think this image represents life for the Aboriginals in the 1800s. Dressed in basic animal skins for body coverings, I felt the natives looked quite aggressive. They hunted a high population of emus and possibly kangaroos for food. The bushland seemed to have a lot of stubby grass and was probably very hot and dry. Perhaps the Wadawurrung people taught the miners how to hunt?
WONDER
- Why do the natives look so aggressive/angry?
- Why is there only two emus?
- What type of animal skin is the native wearing?
- Why is everything so dry?
Hi bloggers and commenters! Itās Kenzie here and Iām here to tell you about my book reflection! Letās get started!
The first question is, what type of genre do you like to read- and why. Well, that question is quite
hard for me (haha š) but I enjoy novels and comics. The reason why I like those type of stories is because I love, love, LOVE, all the wacky drama in novels and comics. Our class is reading a novel calledĀ Out of my Mind. Melody is really curious (Melody is the main character) and the
bullies (Claire and Molly)Ā that are mean to her because Melody has a disease.
The second question is, provide a suggested book and explain why people should read it. In my opinion, I think everyone should read The Secret Garden. (If you have read it comment down below.) I love the secret garden because I think it is such a heartfelt classic. Itās abouta spoiled girl who moves to a place called Misselthwaite Manor and from a small garden, her spoiled attitude changes to imagination!
The third question is… What book chat book are you reading? Give a short summary of what the book is about. Right now, my book chat book is a novel called Figgy in the world. What Iāve read so far is about a girl called Figgy and her grandmother is sick, so she starts planning to go to America, where her Grandma Ama can seek treatment. I enjoy the book because I think itās really sweet that Figgy wants to save up money to go to America so Grandma Ama can get proper treatment
See you soon in my next blog post! Kenzie
P.S- have you read any of these books that Iāve mentioned?

Hi everyone!
Today I am showing you my favourite game. There is loads of games but my fave was maths war! Hope you enjoy it!
Ps. You can play this at home too. Instructions are at the bottom
- Even StevensĀ
- Maths War
- Battleship
- Pass it on
- Decimat
- Yahtzee
How to play Maths War
- Shuffle the cards and sort them.
- Take out all the kings, queens, jacks, and jades.
- Share them out with your partner.
- Pick a random math strategy, adding, minus, division, multiplication.
- Both you and your partner put down a card.
- Then, for instance, if you were doing adding and you got a 3, and your partner got a 3, the answer would be 9.
- Whoever says the correct answer first gets the partners card ( the one that they put down) and gets to keep their card.
- Repeat.
- Keep doing it until you donāt have anymore cards.
- Count your cards and whoever has the most wins! š„³
Hello everyone!
Me and my class started reading this really interesting book called Front Desk, and I thought it was amazing!
So far, we have read that the main character is a girl called Mia, and she used to be so poor that her family could only afford 1 hamburger to share! But then this man called Mr Yao with his annoying son, Jason, gave them a job at the motel for $150 a day, $5 per customer. It is a lot of money for them, so they accepted. But Mia as the manager, she is not doing very well. She has to give out 2 refunds, and almost made a customer get another refund! And she also starts at her new school, and she realises that maybe sheāll make friends by telling them that she works in a motel, but then bossy Jason comes and she doesnāt make friends because she canāt tell people that she works in a motel, so she lies! Itās a great story to read!
So far, the characters that weāve met are,
Mia (main character)
Miaās mum
Miaās dad
Hank (really nice guy who works there as well)
Hankās friends (forgot who their names were)
Mr Yao
Mr Yaoās son, Jason
And thatās all the characters that weāve met!
Bye!
Mckenzie
Hi everyone!
In the weeks of school we have been reading Amal Unbound; it is about a normal girl that turns into a slave. We did a activity where we had two hands and we drew little pictures of the things we did. I did what I do inside of school, and what I do outside of school. Hope you enjoy my drawings!
Hi everyone!
This term, we have been judging the Eve Pownall shortlist information books. We voted the books out of 30 and wrote notes to say a complement and something to work on, and then we had to choose the best book there was in our opinion.
The books were,
Make Believe: MC Esher for kids by MC Esher
Waves by Donna Rawless, Heather Potter, and Mark JacksonĀ
Sorry Day by Coral Vass and Dub LefferĀ
Bouncing back by Rohan Cleave and Coral TullochĀ
The happiness box by Mark Greenwood and Andrew McLeanĀ
Our birds by Siena Stubbs!
Thatās a lot right?
I think what makes a good book is pictures, because usually when information books donāt have any pictures, it immediately makes the book super BORING! Also, with the pictures, it helps readers understand; it actually makes it really clear! And anyway, who doesnāt like pictures in a book?
I also think that it should be a little bit like a story, because then people that are reading it get more engaged in the story. A bit like the Bouncing back story, which actually does have a story about a bandicoots life.
Lastly, I think you need lots of layout. How do readers be engaged without the front cover with lots of art around it? I mean, art is amazing. Anyone can do art, but it does also have to be with the topic.
It was a hard decision to choose which book I liked, but finally, I chose MC Esher for kids! I loved it because the front cover was amazing, it had these cool hypnotising tests, and I just loved it with all those pictures! But when we found out, it was actually sorry DayĀ But, Our schoolās choice was MC Esher for kids! Yay!
Have you judged a book before?
Bye-Bye, Mckenzie!
Hi people, this is our science experiment video.Ā I hope you come to our meet the scientists day on Monday the 9th!
Guess who I am?! I have a apron, a pink dress under, 2 flower clips, and striped pants that are pink. Can you guess who I am? Yeah, I am a baker, as you probably guessed but not just any normal baker, I am a baker called Tartelette! She also has a sister, called Baguette, which is the tall brown baker. We are best sisters, but in real life, she is not my sister, just my friend. I chose Tartelette because she is sweet, sensitive and kind, like me.Ā
I have a connection with Tartelette like that I have read so many of the books and I have also baked tarts; lots of tarts!
I donāt really have a secret power, but I do have this secret sugar recipe, and it helps me with all my recipes for tarts! Amazing sugar!!!
Bye bye, Mckenzie and Tartelette! š®
PS. It was book week and I was actually Tartelette! š® Ā
This is my reading fluency example. I hope you enjoy it!
